ATR Chockstone Grampians 2021 Shiraz

From a small estate (winemaker Adam Richardson) in the Grampians near to both Gariwerd and Ararat, this exceptionally good value red speaks to its region.

Wines, particularly reds, from the Grampians are what "full-bodied" is all about.

There's forest fruits, cedar, a whiff of black pepper and a hint of licorice going on in this luscious wine.

While drinking it now is hardly infanticide, a few more years cellaring will do it no harm.

Sip it and taste what full bodied is all about, which by the way essentially means a wine meeting the sum of all its parts: fruit, tannin, length, breadth and a rounded finish.

Pairing?

Pepper steak, chips and a salad are a perfect match.

So to is a braised in red wine lamb shank with garlicky mash.

Or a pasta puttanesca.

Cheers!
