La Violetta 2022 Yé Yé Blanc
Here's a lively plush blend from the Great Southern region of WA combining grapes from near Mt Barker and Frankland River.
While mostly Riesling, there's splashes of Gewurtztraminer and Vermentino too.
It's a lovely floral wine that jumps from the glass.
Tropical fruit (that guava note typical of Gewurtz), pear-y, apple-y. Wet slate... yeah, using wine speak here, sorry.
Put it this way, on a warm summer's night, this is what you'll want to drink.
Pour it into a wide lipped stemmed glass and chill.
Try drinking it with:
Tuna or kingfish crudo with lime juice, chilli bits, sliced radish and a drizzle of soy sauce
Or
Ripe sweet tomato and soused shallot with burrata and toasted croutons
Or
Battered fried flathead, a squeeze of lemon and crispy chips
Or
Poached chicken salad, mango and cucumber slices
Or
Ripe rockmelon draped with prosciutto di Parma.
Whatever you pair it with, this is the kind of wine that makes everything taste better.
