Ravensworth 'The Grainery' 2022 Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne

Canberra's surrounding wine making regions all produce stuff well worth keeping your wine-eyes on.

Ravensworth in the Murrumbateman 'hood, fewer than 20 ks NE of pollie central is just one of those small wineries whose wines are invariably impressive.

To wit: this viognier, marsanne, roussanne blend. It's classic souhern Rhône but sporting Aussie polish and abundantly rich fruit character. Viognier lends depth, marsanne length and roussanne essential acidity.

It's basically a super-duper blend.

Ravensworth is family owned, quirky and memorable.

Drink this and understand how strongly talent runs in the family genes.

We first had it with sautéed rock flathead, spiced butter and sweet spring potatoes. Resounding success!

The same fish in a vadouvan curry sauce would work equally well.

Try it with garlic prawns and lots of lemon.

Or risotto with squid, peas, chilli and squid ink.

Or linguine with scallops, asparagus and a lemon cream sauce.

Or flash fried veal scallopine with capers.

Or a chicken, green mango, cucumber, capsicum, mint, coriander, basil and Thai dressing salad.

If this is the first blend of these varieties you've ever drunk, you're in for a marvellous treat.
