Fowles 2021 Are You Game? Chardonnay

A central Victorian winery with street cred, a comprehensive range and a sense of humour.

What's not to like?

Fowles' wine labels tend toward metaphorical, this one in particular.

'Are You Game?' features a rabbit.

Geddit?

100% Chardonnay, in most respects it parallels a majority of central Victorian Chardies.

Nice peachy fruit, soft mouth feel, decently long finish and very reasonably priced; in the nicest way possible, it over delivers.

Correspond it with white meat: chicken, fish, quail, pork and veal.

Say... pan fried veal chops with lemon anchovy butter, which would work just as well with rainbow trout or a fillet of snapper.

A ricotta and spinach filled ravioli with fresh tomato and basil sauce.

Short brined barbecued chicken marylands with fresh asparagus and broadbeans?

We're on to it!
