Kilikanoon 2022 Killerman's Run GSM

GSM (grenache, shiraz, mourvèdre/mataro) has become a favoured Aussie blend of three red grapes that grow exceptionally well in our warm, dry climate.

South Australia's beautiful Clare Valley provides all three at their best.

Kilikanoon creates consistently delicious wines from top quality grapes and this blend is no exception.

Though its origin is southern Rhône Valley in France, Clare Valley richness pervades.

Vinified separately then blended in French hogshead barrels, this wine, though thoroughly Clare, benefits from touches of French finesse.

Yeah it's a spicy number with mouth tightening tannins.

There's a bit of licorice, black cherry and forest berries. A touch of star anise and 5-spice too.

The finish is persistent and giving. It's a big scrumptious wine.

It's also a pretty wine, sturdy enough for any wintry dish or summer barbecue.

A big platter of salumi/charcuterie would suit it well.

Your best spag bol too.

A moussaka would match this like a raucous Greek wedding. Same applies to a lasagne.

Slow roasted or braised lamb shoulder with Italian or Asian influences will bring out the best in both.

A rare steak Diane and chips is another perfect pairing.

The Clare Valley doesn't produce inferior wines.

Kilikanoon offers further proof of that fact.
