Stanton & Killeen Classic Muscat

We are extraordinarily lucky to have these unique home grown fortified wines.

Though ports, muscats and topaques can be and are made wherever grapes are ripened sufficiently (Hello Aussie hot summer climate though global warming could ruin that), Rutherglen has been the focus point for these marvellous wines for over a century.

Stanton & Killeen has benchmarked excellent Muscat in particular.

Muscat à Petits Grains Rouge (locally referred to as ‘Rutherglen Brown Muscat’) is the luscious base essence for its Classic NV Muscat.

Stanton & Killeen has generations of expertise with fortified wines. They all deliver remarkable value and finesse.

Rightly highly awarded this Classic Muscat is a burnished golden drop that requires a sit down and savour approach.

There's a fair whack of fruit that lifts from the glass like a turbo-charged Christmas fruitcake.

Mouthfeel? What's that?

Drink this and you'll understand.

Lingering like a long awaited kiss.

While it's totally drinkable all by itself, many desserts don't taste nearly as good, the gods went crazy and finally found a wine that complements chocolate.

Chocolate is one of those foods, like artichokes, that makes wines taste off.

Muscat fills a matching flavour gap like almost no others (some Spanish sweet sherries marry chocolare well).

Use a glass that allows the wine to breathe and serve it at room temperature.

Go simple and try it with a single square of best quality bittersweet chocolate and taste perfection.

Go complex and conjure up a lovely chocolate soufflé.

Besides chocolate, a prune custard tarte would match too.

An orange marmalade infused bread and butter pudding would surprise you in the sweetest way possible.

Golden syrup dumplings? Yes indeed.

Anything sweet could work but don't forget the chocolate.
