Main Ridge 'Half Acre' 2021 Pinot Noir

First planted in 1975 in a sheltered valley near Red Hill, Main Ridge is one of the oldest in the Mornington Peninsula.

Described as 'Grand Cru', a reference to Burgundy's best, their wines do reach that level of superiority.

This Pinot Noir is top of the range.

From a grape that winemakers view as making a sort of holy grail, this outstanding wine is benchmark stuff.

Elegant, refined and full of finesse. Forest fruits, mushrooms, truffles, restrained oak, its complexity is neverending.

Decant before drinking or open a few hours before; it needs airing.

Like all good Pinot Noir, duck is an ideal match. Try it with Beijing duck or pan fried breast with a blackberry balsamic reduction sauce.

Beef 'n Burgundy? Here ya go. Rare rib roast with sauce Béarnaise. Or stir fried Wagyu with black bean.

Chicken  Marengo, hunter style, with buttered rice would work too.

This wine would make fried tofu with miso dressing sing.

We could sing this wine's praises for years to come, or at least until the next vintage, then we'll sing some more.
