Pennyweight 2017 Pinot Noir

The Morris family established Pennyweight Winery outside Beechworth and is now in its 5th generation of winemakers.

It was certified organic and biodynamic well before the "We're organic!" bandwagon rolled into town.

While their Rutherglen vineyards produce outstanding fortified wines, it's the Beechworth site we're looking at this time, in particular this Pinot Noir.

Competition for top quality wines around Beechworth is fierce. It's a region that doesn't suffer wine fools gladly.

The Morris clan excels at everything they do.

This lovely Pinot Noir is a fine example of their strengths.

At six years old it's still a youngster but opening and decanting a few hours before will reveal beautifully attuned finesse.

Velvety. Forest fruity. Elegant. Powerful.

Make your best Beef Bourgignon. Or your best Osso Bucco.

Duck and mushroom risotto?

Hell! Use your last truffle and shave it over fresh tagliatelle.

This wine deserves nothing less.
