Silver Spoon Estate 2022 Cambrian Viognier

Viognier is still something of a rarity in Australia. A pity because they're often complex, full bodied interesting wines.

Just like this one.

Pardon a bit of wine wankery, but this beauty from the Heathcote region has refined acidity and a long finish, two assets many Aussie Viogniers lack. They often err on the side of over-ripeness and a flabby palate.

Silver Spoon is a small estate, off the grid and specialising in less common varieties.

Drink this with something like pan fried chicken and a lemon butter sauce. Or baked ricotta with roasted capsicums and capers. Or go all out and sauté King George whiting with tomatoes, olives and shallots.
