Winton Road Barossa Valley 2023 Rosé

The grapes comprising this winning rosé were sourced from around Rowland Flat.

Though the label doesn't tell us, we're thinking Grenache and Shiraz.

Like most top quality rosés, vinification was in stainless steel to retain freshness.

Unlike most top quality rosés, this spent a bit of time on lees which lends greater complexity and depth.

Smell it. A mash of strawberry and raspberry lifts from the glass. Strong floral notes too.

In the mouth it's all lean, vibrant and a bit racy.

There's a surprising long finish, enough to remind you how interesting well made rosé can be.

Is there a better wine for a hot day?

Lay out a platter of charcuterie and tell us no.

This rosé can make a Bunning's sausage sizzle taste good.

Try it with cool slices of rare roast beef with horseradish sauce and a green salad.

Or go traditional and drink it with Salade Niçoise but replace the tinned tuna with tuna tataki.

Or try it with a Gorgonzola dolce and spinach quiche.

Imagine Grandma's ham, Edam cheese, pickles, mustard and a crusty baguette sandwich?

We have a match!
